Welcome to Obey and Protect

Obey and Protect, LLC provides specialized dog training in group or individualized settings.  Training includes basic and advanced obedience, AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, Therapy Dog certification, agility training, and individual problem behavior correction/modification.  Obey and Protect provides a training solution that works for both you and your dog.

Tom Steinbacher established Obey and Protect to fulfill a life long passion to work with dogs. As a graduate of the highly regarded Master Trainer program of the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers, he attained the rank of Certified Professional Trainer. Tom's personal rapport with his clients separates him from other trainers. His commitment to the profession includes regular weekly volunteer work including after school reading programs, nursing homes, and area Ronald McDonald House visits with Rudy, his Therapy Dog.

Tom is a certified instructor for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship program in addition to being a certified evaluator for Therapy Dog's International. He is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America.

Tom's Tip of the Month

  • Happy New Year
    Make a new years resolution to teach your dog this year. Join a class, pack walk or team event. Think your dog knows how to sit? Have your dog sitting at your left side reliably each time you stop while on a walk. This is called auto sit. To teach this, walk ten paces and command sit, do this at least five times and then try not saying sit. Did she sit? If not, continue walking ten paces, give command and so on. Remember reward with praise and motivation!
